DIFFRACTION 2004 - How to reach Cala Gonone

By plane

People arriving by plane should reach the Olbia airport. An early reservation is strongly recommended, because of the high touristic flux to Sardinia even in September.

From Roma Fiumicino airport there are direct flights to Olbia (air company Meridiana). There are 6 flights to Olbia on September 18 and 5 flights from Olbia to Rome on September 23. The lowest price for non-Sardinian residents for the Rome-Olbia flight is 78 Euro, plus taxes. The same applies for the return flight to Rome. Reduced prices are applied to students below 26. According to the information appearing on the Meridiana website, the round trip Rome-Olbia-Rome, including all taxes, costs 192.20 Euro. The tickets for this flight can be booked via Internet (credit card needed).

By ship

People arriving by ship should reach the Olbia harbour.

From Rome one should first reach Civitavecchia by train (from 1h30m to 2h travel time, depending on the exact route; the time-table of Italian trains can be checked at the TrenItalia website). The ferry company serving from Civitavecchia to Olbia is Tirrenia. Prices depend on the kind of sleeping place and range approximately from 20 to 40 Euro, plus several Euro for taxes. The same holds for the return trip.
